About Flaundie
I initially started this blog just to post about all the pretty indie things there are to buy in this, our vast and varied internet. Life got in the way and I ended up taking a very long break and now the plan is altered slightly. I still intend to post about all the pretty things I unearth during my endless hours spent wistfully window shopping on the internet for things I most likely will never buy but continue using to decorate the interior of my mind's imaginary Dream Home. I'll also post about things I make with my own two hands, tutorials for things I've made that someone else out there might want to make too, and maybe the occasional babbling and the less occasional pictures of pretty things that I enjoy.
I don't post about anything because of any form of bribery, monetary or otherwise. I only post about things that I love. That is how it was when I started and how it will continue to be. If you want to send me fluffy money and piles of puppies just for fun though, well, I am not going to stand in your way.
Oh and in case you're curious, the name of this blog was initially meant to reference the collection of indie-made flora and fauna related items I was posting about. Now it's just a silly name since the scope of focus has widened considerably.
Banner + Background
I drew the background pattern myself, as well as the banner, which, like the name of this blog, has lost its relevance and remains as a testament to my intense sense of nostalgia i.e. I don't have time to make a new one even if the old one doesn't make much sense. If you like the banner, or the background, please feel free to brighten my day by saying so!
Decorum + Suggestions
I send a little note to everyone I feature here if I can find a way to contact them. If you've been featured here and don't want to be, just say the word and the post will disappear. I aim to be fully respectful of artists' rights and if you don't want your work posted here, I have no problem with that.
I spend a lot of time digging around for pretty things and I generally have a mass of things in mind to post about at any given time but I always welcome suggestions. If you are doing something you think I'd like to post about, if your best friend or your grandma or your hockey coach is doing something you think I'd like to post about, I'd love to hear from you! I do, however, have a few guidelines for suggestions:
- Please email all suggestions.
- Please use a subject line! "Flaundie suggestion" or some permutation thereof would be super.
- There should be a legitimate online shop where items can be purchased if you sell things. This can be an Etsy shop or an independent website with a shop or something to that effect. If you are an artist of some kind, a Flickr page is great, or a website, just some place I can link to, really.
- Pictures should be clear, crisp, well-lit and generally professional-looking.
That's about it! Please include your name (first only is fine) if you'd like to be identified as the one to introduce me to your awesomeness or the awesomeness of someone you know. Include links! No attachment-laden emails please!
If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or just want to send me some puppies and need to know where to send them, please email me.
Where I am Elsewhere
The Wistful Republic - My website, which at the moment that I am writing this is undergoing a bit of a transformation period but is still fully dressed and glad to have visitors!
Vintage Scans - This is where I used to post scans from my old magazines and various vintage papers. I don't have time to update anymore and if I ever start up again I'll probably move it elsewhere but there are some posts still up if you'd like to take a look.
My Etsy shop - I started off making jewelry way back in the day and when I decided it wasn't for me, I set up this shop to sell jewelry supplies and it became its own full-time business. I also sell customized buttons, mirrors and magnets that I press myself with my snazzy button press as well as some old stock from my website that is listed at a big discount. I also hope to add some vintage paper and buttons and things like that in the near future.
